When fish are migrating behind squid island, it’s one of the best spots to find fish. Today was a nice day for Steve and Dave Wallis, James Knightn and Joe Youngberg. There were a couple of showers but the sun did come out.
Our guests Doug and Frank Peabody and Jim and John McDonnell really enjoyed our recent trip out in wet weather. I did too! I love to fish off squid island, it’s one of my favourite fishing spots and a perfect example of how to catch salmon in Canada.
You don’t have to go far to find great fishing when you live in one of the best fishing spots in the world for salmon and halibut. The ocean was very calm the day Ian and Kim ventured out on the Sunrise. They were taking a day trip from Courtenay on the east side of Vancouver Island. We decided to take the 20-mile run out to the Big Bank.
Tracy and Dave MacDonald, and friends, Lice and Perry Lucas, all from Courtenay, British Columbia got to experience a great fishing trip. The day was very calm and the Sunrise took the group out to the Big Bank for salmon and halibut fishing. It was a good day of fishing, all and all.
The Halibut fishing was a bit slow but we manage to catch a couple of smaller fish. We also caught our limit of eight Chinook salmon. Tracy, Dave, Lice and Perry pose for a shot with their best catch of the day.
